The pups, however, are stranded on the beach for another few weeks until they develop sufficient waterproofing to survive the chilly Antarctic waters. This weaned elephant seal pup is one amongst several lying on the beach in Moltke Harbour, South Georgia waiting to make it's way into the sea.
